At the first European festival of tourism promotion - Tourism&Strategy, held in Paris, the Croatian mobile application for tourists, Zagreb Be There, won an award as the best in the digital media category.
The Zagreb Be There mobile application won an award in the digital media category at the Tourism&Strategy Festival recently held in Paris. The success is all the greater since there was fierce competition among 30 cities from 20 countries. The same application has already won the MIXX award as the best Croatian mobile app at Communication Days in Rovinj.
The application is a project by the Zagreb Tourist Board realized in cooperation with the Bruketa&Žinić OM and Brlog agencies; it offers tourists the possibility of sightseeing with the help of their smart phones. Apart from the typical tourist hotspots, the application also offers special, themed sightseeing routes of the somewhat lesser known but equally fascinating landmarks around the city.
The application, which has already become very popular with numerous tourists, functions on iOS and Android platforms. It is based on the so-called gamification principle, which conveys the rules and methods of interaction used in videogames into the real world. Tourists who use the Zagreb Be There app must virtually check-in at each location they visit, and once they complete the tour they can collect awards such as ticket discounts etc.
The application can be downloaded from the betherezagreb.com microsite or via the QR code on a flyer that can be found at all major tourist hotspots in town.
